Think of food in Oxford and what do you think? Raymond Blanc’s Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons? High Tea at The Randolph? Maybe the dearly departed Lemon Tree, or Cherwell Boathouse. Places of character and history for sure. But there are SO many wonderful places that serve incredible, and, cheap food. But more than that, they are destinations, institutions, cultural hubs. I’ll be looking at a few.

Atomic Burger on Cowley Road is one of two legendary burger bars in Oxford (the other, on the other side of town, being Pepper’s, in Jericho). You’re not seeing things – that really is a wall papered with comics. Do I need to say more? New York’s finest, Katelan Foisy, is not part of the joint. She is friends with Warren Ellis though so it’s all connected.
