A Taster Menu

The first post. What to say? Something about The Comapny of Fellows, available for Kindle for just 70p, as well as all other eformats at the same price and paperback for £9.99? What about its context? Something about Morse, maybe? Or the history of Oxford?

Well, no. It’s long been my contention that, contrary to Godwin’s Law, all internet conversation ultimately comes round to food. So I thought I’d start with a little tasting menu, based on the food from the book. You may also want to check out the recipe page here.

Canapés

Strips of wagyu beef wrapped around watercress wilted in miso soup

Pearly kisses – scallops floating on a shot of gazpacho topped with a rose petal

Oysters with a scallion, lemon and olive oil spoon

Tudor rose – made from smoked salmon, smoked halibut, and smoked eel

Starter

Green tea risotto with calamari and iberico

Fish

Dorade en poele with lemongrass and chard

Meat

Grouse larded with speck, with a mutton, fig, and caper forcemeat, served with a truffled root mash

Cheese

A selection of unpasteurised european cheeses

Pudding

A selection of crèmes brulees

Hawaiian kona coffe with an assiette of custards, truffles, and candied petals
